Stella- Four Months

Dear Stella,

You are four months old today. This has been a busy month for you. You continue to amaze us with your daily developments, most notably your emerging personality. You found your voice and have become very vocal. You are often loudly “conversing” with everything and everyone around you. I wish we knew what you were saying. You smile and laugh and even act bashful or coy at times. Your Dad and I cannot get enough of you. You vehemently protest your car seat, but generally settle down once the car is moving and often nap on the way to or from your next adventure. Sometimes though you fuss and complain at every red light. You have rolled both ways. First from your stomach to your back and just yesterday from back to stomach. You have stopped sleeping through the night and now get up every few hours for a meal. You often demand to sleep on my chest or your Dad’s instead of your co-sleeper. We are not too sure how to handle this development. I do love having you sleep so close and nestled in. You seem to recoil from the sun. When it shines in your face you act like you are auditioning to play the part of a Vampire, which totally confirms that you are all mine! We saw the Pediatrician for your four month appointment on Friday and she was very pleased with your development. You chatted her ear off. You now weigh 14 pounds, 10 ounces and are 25 inches long. You took your vaccinations like a champ, though it still broke our hearts to watch you get them. You got to meet your Paternal Grandparents in person and they adore you. This month you visited the Santa Ana Zoo, the Bower’s Museum, Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch with your Cousins, went to your first Halloween Party and walked in your first Charity Walk. Everywhere we go, we get compliments about you.

It’s been a wonderful month, you are a darling baby.

Love,

Mom & Dad

Walk to End Alzheimer’s

Our family walked this morning in the 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Long Beach. We participated for the second year on our friend Chris’s team. This year we walked in memory of our good friend Mike’s Father, Jim who lost his battle with the disease just yesterday. My purple flower above has his name on it. So many of us have been directly touched by the impact of Alzheimer’s Disease. Another friend was walking in honor of his Mother. Alzheimer’s is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. and the death rates have been increasing rapidly. See facts here. Research advancement is critical. So many people were out this morning in the sunshine walking in honor, support or memory of loved one’s. It was truly beautiful. I am proud of all our friends and Long Beach neighbors who came out. Stella’s first philanthropic act, we hope to raise a good citizen.

What’s in my Diaper Bag

Thought I would document what’s in my diaper bag these days. It’s evolved a little since week one and I am sure it will continue to change over time. Here are the current contents. It weighs a ton!

The Bag with Changing Pad

Sun Hat, Sunscreen and Face & Nose Wipes

Diapers, Wipes and Butt Paste

Nursing Cover,  Bib/Burpcloth & Sometimes a Bottle of Pumped Milk

TeetherCarrier Bibs for her Infantino Carrier & toy or two

Muslin Blanket , Socks, Two Changes of Clothes, a sweatshirt and possibly some PJ’s depending on the time of day.

I’m sure there are some things I am forgetting. Just writing this post makes me feel a little better about running late all the time. In addition to this we travel with her car seat & stroller, carrier,  security blanket,  Sophie the Giraffe, two toys that are attached to her car seat, and my personal belongings. It’s bananas the gear a baby requires!

What’s in your diaper bag? Anything I am missing?
