Illuminating Stella

Stella’s Library

I try to read to Stella everyday. Usually in the morning after we wake up and with John before bed to settle her down. She is good for 3-5 short books and seems to really like looking at the pictures and has even started trying to help turn the pages. Not sure if she is impatient or just enjoying using her hands. I generally sit her in her infant to toddler rocker which has become one of my favorite baby items we got. I hope it will fulfill it’s destiny and she will rock and read all by herself one day. These are some of the books we are reading lately. I love the content and artwork in them and she seems to respond with enthusiasm. It is the best feeling when I turn a page and her eyes blink wide open. We got all of them via Amazon.

These two are sooooo adorable, simple and sweet.

Great intro to fruit and colors. We will get more of this series.

The owl pops out with your finger and stays for each page. She loves watching the wiggly owl. Can’t wait to get more from this series too.

A gift from my Mom, a cute story about all the funny nicknames we call babies. Guilty as charged.

Love the story of a toddler refusing to wear most of her clothes for one complaint or another. Not looking forward to this phase of getting her dressed. Reminds me to enjoy this time where I get to pick the outfits with no talk back.

Had to get the first one in this series to check it out. Obviously, we will collect them all for Stella. They are probably a little mature for now, but the artwork is gorgeous. I really like reading this one.

That’s all for now. Will add more to this topic in the future. I am planning on raising a good little reader!

Oh, I have lots and lots of recommendations, if you are up for it. Reading to Sophie is one of my favorite parts of being a parent. I’ve just started keeping a daily journal with her (she dictates, and I write), and she truly loves it. We write her journal entry every night before story time. I think it will be a great keepsake for her when she’s older, and it allows me to record the ways she talks and thinks now, which is so sweet and charming (for the most part!) at her age. She ends each entry, saying “Today was a good day.”

We would love your recommendations. So glad you are doing that with Sophie. She is such a smart character with a sweet soul. You will both love that journal for all time.
