John and I took Stella for her first ride on the swings today, New Years Eve. She thoroughly enjoyed herself and loved watching the other kids play from her perch. I know she is going to be a playground junkie soon enough. She is brimming with energy and it’s gonna have to burn off somewhere.
Stella has now been to her father’s version “The Happiest Place on Earth”, which is Santa Barbara Wine Country. We took a drive with my parents up to Los Olivos/Santa Ynez on Friday. Our first stop was at Gainey, one of John’s favorite vineyards to taste and pick up his shipment. Then we went into town at Los Olivos and tasted at Andrew Murray and had lunch at The Los Olivos Cafe. (You may recall this restaurant from the movie Sideways). We had a great bottle of wine from Lioco with lunch. The weather was perfect, chilly but clear and sunny. Stella did pretty great with being in the car for hours. All in all a perfect So Cal day trip.
You are six months old today. Half a year…how can it be that you have been with us that long already? Happy Half Birthday Baby Girl! If the next six months go as fast as the first, you will be ONE before we know it. You have had a great month. You are now expertly sitting up. You have TWO teeth in the bottom front of your mouth. You are babbling words that sound awfully close to Dada and Cat. Any day now we expect to give you full credit for one of them. Your Dad is sympathetically trying to teach you Mama, but not so much as an Mmmmm has come out of your sweet little lips. I don’t mind, I like your Dad a lot too. You are a feisty girl with a lot of personality. You have a smile for everyone you meet and occasionally a big belly laugh. The belly laughs are mostly credited to your Dad, Maddie and Molly. You still do not sleep through the night and you aren’t any fonder of your car seat. Your favorite toys are Sophie the Giraffe and anything that makes noise. You got several new musical toys for Christmas and already love them. You just have to be constantly on the move and anytime you are on someone’s knee you ride horse instinctively. We think you might be an equestrian one day. You are eating at least one meal a day, often two and have now tried a myriad of fruits and veggies. Your favorite thing is a frozen peach in a little handle with a net, I think it soothes the teething. This month was busy, you went to your first Christmas Parade, a bunch of holiday parties, visited Santa, went to a book signing in West Hollywood, wine tasting in Santa Barbara and celebrated your First Christmas.
We love and adore you,
Mom & Dad
