Eating: Avocado Toast with Egg. We had breakfast at Haute Cakes in Newport Beach over the holidays and my cousin Camala and I ordered this dish. I think John was really jealous since he has made his own version (just as good) for us several times lately. Here is a good recipe for this easy, yummy and satisfying meal. We Californians adore our avocados!
Listening to: Our wedding playlist. Wednesday was our 3rd Anniversary. We are going to celebrate on Saturday night with dinner at the place we got married. We had tons of music picked for our wedding. Most of it got played, though the crowd wanted way more dance club music than we picked out. Just as our DJ had warned us- ha ha!. Anyway, here is a list of our key songs. Thought Stella might be interested some day. Our bridal party walked down the aisle to Feist – 1234. I walked down the aisle to The Beatles – I Will. We walked back down the aisle once married to Madonna- Cherish. Our wedding party intro to the reception was ELO – Mr. Blue Sky. Our first dance was to Wilco – California Stars (while the ceiling opened up and everyone could see the stars by the way). The Father- Daughter Dance was to The Beach Boys – God Only Knows. We cut the cake to Landon Pigg- Falling In Love in a Coffee Shop. Our last dance of the night was to The Kinks- Strangers.
Obsessing Over: IKEA kids toys. Went earlier this week with my neighbor. I got this adorable bathtub set for Stella to use with her dolls. It actually works perfectly for her Baby Stella doll and was much more affordable than the bathtub set that goes with the doll I had on her Amazon wish list. They had a bunch of really sweet toys that we may have to collect. I love the food series, this vegetable basket, this fruit basket and a salmon set (just what every toddler wants). I also got her a flower crown that she refuses to wear. Someday.
Watching: Stella and Sam. We love the books this series is based on. I found them after Stella was born. The show is really darling, it totally brings the beautiful illustrations from the books vividly to life. A redhead named Stella, of course we were hooked. We’re watching it on the Sprout Channel. It’s winning lots of awards too.
Celebrating: Weaning, it took six months but we have finally weaned all the way. We had kept one last feeding (first thing in the morning) for the last few months. I had a few minor medical issues/illnesses the last few months that required some meds and even though the doctors said everything was fine for breastfeeding it bothered me that she was getting any drug like stuff in my breast milk. I had wanted Stella to make the choice to end but she just wasn’t going to do it. About three weeks ago when we both got sick with the stomach flu it just created an almost natural end that I just went with. She has asked for it every morning since then, which makes me feel a little guilty and sad, but I know she is just fine and she is drinking lots of milk now. It’s a bittersweet chapter to close, but we honestly went sooooo much longer than I ever thought we would go.
Loving: Other kids. Stella is thrilled anytime she is surrounded by other kids and I enjoy watching her interact. She had such a great playdate with her bestie Sofie this week playing in Sofie’s adorable playhouse. It was a miraculous playdate, neither
girl princess had a melt down, they didn’t fight or cry over toys or sippy cups and nobody (namely Sofie) got hit. Sofie’s mom Alana and I were almost spooked by how easy-going the whole afternoon was. We must have been in some magical crossover vortex of the right amount of napping, meals and variety of toys. I am sure we will resume with the normal drama next time.
