Yesterday Stella and I had a great day. It started with an early nap (not sure why exactly). Usually she falls asleep in the car (by design) on the way to or from an event. She is pretty difficult to get down for a nap most days so I just resort to car rides which are her kryptonite. Actually she often falls asleep way too early riding in the car and I have to wake her up to go to story time at the library or Gymboree. Anyway she took a shower with me and afterward I could just tell that she was really sleepy and cranky and needed to go down, even though it was like 10:30am. It took me about a half hour of book reading and singing songs to her but eventually she fell asleep in my arms. It was almost like magic, I had to snap a photo. I love her sweet little face.
I spent her nap time mopping the kitchen and living room floor, folding laundry, getting dressed and having a peaceful sandwich for lunch. When she woke up I fed her lunch and then we decided to take a walk to the post office to pick up a package we got a notice about the day before. Stella loves any opportunity to ride in her pink car. So off we went. It was a perfect sunny, breezy day for a walk.
When we got home Stella did not want to go inside. So we made a compromise as there was not enough time for a trip to the park. Over the weekend we cleared out our patio of most of the flower pots and other toddler hazards as we are expecting a water table for Stella to arrive on Friday. The cats ashes were finally buried in our big blue pot with a new planting (sigh). We also got a cute easel for art projects, an umbrella for some shade and seat cushions for our furniture. I am hoping to make use of the small outdoor space we have this spring and summer and let her play with water and paint. So I decided to give her a prequel of her water table and put out three bowls, some tub toys and a watering can full of water out for her to play with. She was in heaven and enjoyed getting totally soaked. Eventually we had to take off her overalls and let her hang out in just a swim diaper and tee. I think the water table is going to make her year.
Once we cleaned up Stella and I retired inside (which took some convincing and tears), Stella was thrilled to get a visit from her Grandparents. Soon after John got home from work and he opened a bottle of wine and we ordered Thai food. Stella loves when we have dinner guests. I forgot to snap more pictures but all in all it was a pretty perfect day!
